The current global economic crisis can have potentially dramatic effects on Central American countries. Rising import bills, reduced remittances, and stagnating or deteriorating terms of trade, coupled with a slowdown of the U.S. economy and limited fiscal resources, can have a severe negative impact on the already complex socio-economic conditions in the region. This conference will analyze Central America’s current economic scenario, including the consequences of increased food and energy prices.
