Throughout Asia and the Pacific, there is a growing recognition that corruption adversely impacts equitable and sustainable economic growth. Governments have responded by passing anti-corruption legislation, strengthening codes of conduct for civil servants, and establishing anti-corruption commissions. However, reducing corruption is not the responsibility of government alone. Corruption occurs where the private and public sectors intersect. There is both a demand and supply side to corruption with the supply side often taking the form of bribes. This conference provides an opportunity to address the supply-side, from the perspectives of the public sector, the private sector, and civil society.
The 6th Regional Anti-Corruption Conference for Asia and the Pacific on 26-28 November will provide a unique opportunity for dialogue and exchange among governments, business leaders, and civil society from the region and beyond. Workshops will identify the roles of the public sector, the private sector, and civil society–and discuss successful policies and challenges in addressing the supply-side of bribery.
